Letter of Understanding & Memorandum of Understanding
MOU with Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI)
The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) and the Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 26 October 2018 to facilitate industry recognition of SAC-accredited conformity assessment bodies (CABs) providing ISA/IEC 62443 Industrial Automation and Control Systems Cybersecurity Certification under ASCI’s ISASecure Scheme. The scheme includes the EDSA (Embedded Device Security Assurance) certification, SSA (System Security Assurance) certification and SDLA (Security Development Lifecycle Assurance) certification. With the signed MOU, SAC has expanded our Laboratory Accreditation Scheme to include Robustness Testing under the Information Technology Field and ISASecure Certification under Product Certification Scheme on 4 January 2019.
MOU with Myanmar’s Department of Research and Innovation (DRI)
The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC), Enterprise Singapore (formerly known as SPRING Singapore) and Myanmar’s Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 8 June 2017 at the 6th Singapore-Myanmar Joint Ministerial Working Committee (JMWC) meeting held in Singapore. SAC has been also appointed as Myanmar’s partner accreditation body to provide accreditation services to their laboratories as well as inspection and certification bodies, and to provide technical assistance to develop their capability in accreditation.
This collaboration will provide greater assurance in the quality of products and services and facilitate market access for businesses in both countries. It will also further encourage the exchange of information, conformity assessment, accreditation services and related technical and quality issues.
MOU with Health Sciences Authority
SAC signed a Collaboration Memorandum with the Chemical Metrology Division (CMD) of the Health Sciences Authority on 13 August 2015. This Collaboration Memorandum signifies the close collaboration between SAC and CMD in the areas of training, proficiency testing, dissemination of measurement traceability and provision of technical expertise. It will pave the way for future collaboration to further the enhancement of metrology in Chemistry in Singapore, as well as the upgrading of technical capabilities of accredited laboratories.
MOU with Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ)
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to improve cooperation in accreditation activities between JAS-ANZ and SAC was signed on 5 August 2014 at the Quality and Standards Conference 2014. The MOU will deepen the collaboration and knowledge exchange with JAS-ANZ to strengthen the accreditation framework which will benefit our industries. The cooperation includes the accreditation of certification bodies, training and exchange of personnel, process benchmarking and improvement, promotion of accreditation, and joint initiatives at regional and international forums.
MOU with Singapore Polytechnic
SAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) at the Quality and Standards Conference 2014 on 5 August 2014. This collaboration is to educate and strengthen the quality mindset of the Singapore workforce, and it includes the design of a Diploma Course in Applied Sciences to raise the competence level of working adults in laboratory management. The course is expected to be rolled out in 2015.
LOU for Technical Cooperation with Brunei Darussalam
SAC signed a Letter of Understanding (LOU) for technical cooperation between the Ministry of Development, Brunei Darussalam and SAC on 9 April 2001. With this LOU, Brunei Darussalam recognises SAC as the accreditation body for the purpose of Laboratory Accreditation, Inspection Body Accreditation and Accreditation of Quality Management Systems Certification Bodies.
