Launch of New Accreditation Scope under Auditing Organisation Scheme
Launch of New Accreditation Scope under Auditing Organisation Scheme
The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) is pleased to announce the expansion of our Accreditation Scheme for Auditing Organisation (AO) to include Food Establishment Audits with effect from 22 February 2022.
Supporting the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), SAC aims to build a network of recognized AOs in Singapore that are competent to perform audits of food establishments. This programme serves to step-up the rigor in ensuring the veracity of the audit outcome delivered by the recognised AOs. The scope of food establishment audit covers audit of any place or any premises or part thereof used for the sale, or for the preparation or manufacture for distribution and sale, or for the storage or packing for distribution and sale, of food, whether cooked or not, intended for human consumption.
SFA will require food establishments that apply for food export certificates, to be audited by SAC accredited AO using SFA’s checklist. The audit report will be used to support the approval of the export certificate issued by SFA. More information will be made available on SFA’s website on 1 March 2022.
Interested AOs will be assessed based on CT 17 – SAC Criteria for Accreditation of Auditing Organisations under Auditing Organisation Accreditation Scheme. The specific requirements for food establishments AOs are detailed in Appendix 3 of SAC CT 17.
Application for accreditation is now open through the SAC accreditation portal, SACiNET. Please contact your account manager for more details.
